After I completed my 4 month stay at Americas Keswick in July of ’08, I had to make a covenant with a church for 8 months to complete the 1-year program. The purpose of the covenant is to help me to put into practice what I learned while at Americas Keswick.
I remember the day I came home I was just as scared as the day I left. I didn’t want to fall back into my old routines. Some of the men come to Keswick straight from the streets or from sleeping on benches and gutters; some come from living with girlfriends and in Keswick learn what the Bible says about that. I was fortunate enough to have a place to go. I went to my family’s cabin at Seyfert camp and stayed there for a whole month. I was slowly introduced to the Christian world.
I was also fortunate enough to have a home church where I was already welcomed. I learned that a lot of others are not as fortunate as I was. They sometimes have to make their covenant in a church they have never set foot in. This is extremely difficult for people like me.
Chi United and Second Chance Ministries have made it their goal to welcome everyone and anyone that wants to be a part of a church and church family. Chi United is focused on making disciples who will make a difference and Second Chance Ministries is helping to fulfill this mission.
