Beginning Saturday, March 6, 2010, Chi United will be offering a new service focused on reaching those in our community who do not currently attend church. This weekly service will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will be a laid back, “come as you are” service. The sermon will be the same as what is delivered on Sunday morning and the music will be slightly more contemporary. Nursery will be provided.
For the first month, we will also be providing a meal each week, just to encourage fellowship among those who visit with us. Besides, free food is always a good thing. The meal will begin at 4:00 p.m.
There are currently three ways that you can help with this service…
- Invite – There are flyers available at the church to hand out to friends and family who might be interested. Also, on each of the next two Saturdays, a group of folks will be going throughout the local neighborhoods to distribute these flyers to our neighbors. Think about it! If the only people who show up are church people, then have we really accomplished anything? No. Help us out by inviting others.
- Serve – A new service doesn’t just happen without planning and willing servants. Much planning has already taken place and will continue to take place. If you’d like to be a part of the leadership team for this service, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, if you’d be willing to serve in some practical areas, we need you. Some specific needs include set-up and clean-up for the meals, someone to run sound (training available), greeters, offering tellers, people just to fill space in the early stages, additional nursery workers, etc. Basically, if you can think of it, we need it done.
- Pray – Please be in prayer for God to send the right people to serve in this ministry and pray that God would use this to do more than just increase the number of people attending our church. Pray that God would truly use this to change people’s lives, offering them hope and peace that the world cannot offer.
